A quick post on Becca Mann

I graduated with my BFA in Fibers from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago in 2003. There was a girl in some of my classes and part of the BFA thesis exhibition that I was in by the name of Becca Mann. Becca makes unbelievably stunning drawings and paintings that are inspired by old photographs. For some reason something made me think about her work the other day and I decided to do a search online. I found her website and was amazed by the remarkable delicacy of light in her work. It looks like she has not made any paintings in a while or perhaps not updated her website, however here are a few works from 2006-2010. I absolutely love Becca's work and hope there is more to see form her in 2012. Such a talented lady!

   Jaroslava, 2010. Oil on panel 11" x 14"

   Soldier, 2007.  Oil on panel, 12" x 8.75".
This beautiful painting is also the cover for Joanna Newsom's 12" single 'What We Have Known'

Romanov Family Portrait, 2009.  Oil on panel, 48" x 48".
