Spring 2013

Coming in March, Herron Clothier brings you a collection of hand woven scarves and garments inspired by the Ballet, Le Sacre du Printemps, or The Rite of Spring, to commemorate the anniversary of it's 100th birthday. This legendary ballet, now considered a masterpiece, was choreographed by Vasilav Nijinsky for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballet Russes and scored by Igor Stravinsky. During it's debut in 1913 the piece nearly caused riots in the audience due to it's subject matter; a ritual human sacrifice of a tribeswoman who dances herself to death. With it's primitive, un-balletic movement, and sack like tunic dresses, critics were outraged. After it's short performance run the choreography and costumes were completely destroyed. It wasn't until the mid-late 1980's when dance scholar and historian Milicent Hodson ,with the help of The Joffrey Ballet brought Sacre back to the stage once again. The Sacre Collection will be available exclusively at herronclothier.com. Please also join me for the collection debut March 10th at Dose Market in Chicago.

In other news, Herron Clothier is pleased to have a small mention featuring last fall's Elisse Scarf, in the current Feb/ Mar 2013 issue of American Craft Magazine. It's out on news stands now.
