Grotesque Flowers

“Grotesque Flowers" is a series of deeply personal sculptures that I created in June and July of 2024 as a response to the news that I needed to undergo a hysterectomy for my health. Creating the "Grotesque Flowers" series helped me to process and express complex and sometimes intense feelings and anxieties that I found difficult to talk about at the time. This marked a shift in my work, as I began to focus more on personal experiences as a central theme. It was a vulnerable and uncomfortable, yet cathartic new direction for me. Making beauty from difficulty felt necessary, and I believe that art connects us and makes life more bearable.
