Sand Valley Golf Resort, Nekoosa, WI

In November of 2016 I was in Iceland as an artist-in-residence at Textilesetur Islands (The Icelandic Textile Center) in Blonduos. I was there to spend the month weaving new work for an upcoming show the following spring. One night during my last week I received an email from Studio Gild, an interior design firm in Chicago, looking to commission tapestries for a new corporate client. After a few emails back and forth to understand the project and noting designs would be needed urgently, I pulled a few all nighters to get my weavings on the loom finished as well as create 6 new designs for Studio Gild's client to choose from. With minimal resources with me in Iceland, I drew the designs by hand in my sketchbook with colored pencils, snapped some photos of them with my iPhone and emailed them off to studio Gild before boarding a bus to Reykjavik to then board a plane to the US.

3 of the 6 designs were selected and over the winter of 2017 I spent the months weaving the (3) 4ft x 7ft tapestries for the Sand Valley Resort's Mammoth Bar and Grill dining room. They were installed in late April 2017 a week before the hotel was to open. These photos are interim snapshots taken at the time of install.
